On the afternoon April 22nd, Yuan Guiren, Head of China Ministry of Education visit and investigate at Yixuan Building, where is Graphene Industry and Engineering Research Institute(GIERI) in Xiamen University for the its specific situation, accompanied by Zhang Yan(Secretary of the Communist Party Committee), Zhu Chongshi (Principal of XMU), Li Jiangfa (Vice Principal and Vice Secretary), Ye Shiman (Vice Principal), Tian Zhongqun (Academician) and Prof. Zhang Guoxing (BGTM key technician).
Academician Tian Zhongqun has introduce the background, mechanism (specialist-university-leading enterprise-city), advantages, mid-term targets and achievements. At the same time, Minister Yuan Guiren gives out his suggestions upon the questions and solutions about GIERI. Porf. Zhang Guoxing shows RFID products on the way to mass production. Zhang Yan (Secretary of the Communist Party Committee) and Zhu Chongshi (Principal of XMU) states that Xiamen University will grab this historic chance of graphene, full support the construction of GIERI and realize the expectation of being Carbon Valley around the world.
In the 35 minutes report, Minister Yuan Guiren inquire the details of graphene cost and Britain's National Institute of graphene, highly appreciate the institute progress. He says GIERI will contribute a lot to XMU, Xiamen and Fujian province.
